To define and implement H&S strategy across the business. To provide support and guidance to ensure a safe and suitable working environment which is compliant with current Health and Safety legislation. To drive and embed a positive safety culture and best practice at all levels of the organisation which deliver a healthy and safe working environment.

To define and implement appropriate procedures and working practices that ensure the business meets its legal & regulatory requirements for all buildings, equipment, tooling and utilities supplies.

To maintain all Company buildings and facilities in good working order. To liaise with appropriate departments to set up timely and best value support from external service providers. To advise on and control any changes to existing, or installation of new, equipment and facilities.

To work with the Security Controller to monitor and maintain the security of all Company sites, both physical and electronic (IT systems) to ensure our List X status is maintained.

To measure and report on appropriate Security and Facilities aspects to Senior Management

Health & Safety

- Define and Implement a business wide H&S strategy which ensures full compliance with current H&S legislation
- Promote H&S best practices to encourage continual improvement and reporting / action of `near miss` situations
- Be the single point of contact for visits by external regulatory bodies such as the UK Health and Safety Executive, as and when required
- Develop and deliver appropriate training to meet employee training needs
- Support managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice and practical support as and when required
- Work with and support managers to prepare and carry out risk assessments; ensure that they are carried out in line with procedures and in a timely manner
- Manage and implement the maintenance of Health and Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), in a consistent and effective manner
- Implement audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures, and identify and advise on improvements
- Manage the collection, storage and analysis of accident and other H&S data and to feed into management reports, identify trends and recommend action
- Manage fire safety processes to ensure legal compliance including evacuation procedures and fire prevention training
- Manage an effective and compliant DSE process, ensuring outcome are acted upon
- Manage the investigation of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken
- Reporting of any notifiable accidents and incidents in compliance with HSE and RIDDOR requirements


Manage the Company facilities to ensure suitability of use, to support project and programme requirements

- Organise minor repair and maintenance activities
- Source, manage and control facilities contractors as required
- Control the maintenance, calibration and safe use of all tooling, support equipment and facilities
- Advise on procurement of new tooling, equipment and facilities to suit business needs
- Ensure suitable systems exist to control the change of use and development of facilities for future projects
- Ensure planned preventative and timely corrective maintenance for all tooling, equipment and infrastructure
- Manage the delivery of the Company Pool car policy


- Control the maintenance and proper use of all security support systems (e.g. CCTV)
- Ensure all third party contractors† are suitably security cleared before undertaking facilities work onsite
- Assist the Security Controller and the Board Level contact in maintaining the Company List X status
- Advising the business on security aspects when visiting and supporting Customers in foreign countries
