Position: Service Engineer
Reporting to: Workshop Supervisor

Role:

Based at the company`s Chertsey site, the role will report to the Workshop Supervisor, within a highly Technical low volume manufacturing environment. The Service Engineer will be required to carry out the Servicing and Repair of high-precision electro-mechanical products and associated items.
Whilst the role will require a small amount of travel both UK & Overseas, the role will be primarily based at the company`s Chertsey site and will require both team working skills and the ability to work individually, with a pro-active approach to problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct technical investigations on equipment failures and prepare failure reports
- Ensure all Service & Repair activities are completed in an efficient and timely manner
- Conduct some quality testing and fault finding on products
- Servicing and Repair of electro-mechanical components and products, with an emphasis on intricate mechanical assembly and quality
- Fit and assembly of mechanical components making use of appropriate machinery and hand tools.
- Repair, manufacture and installation of wiring looms (using techniques, such as, soldering and crimping).
- Ensure components required are of a suitable quality & condition pre any service, repair or assembly operation
- Maintain compliance in accordance to international standards, and company processes and procedures
- Provide support to the Production department on an as required basis
- Ensure that all H&SE policies and the company ISO guidelines are adhered to during manufacture/assembly/repair of instruments.

Experience Required:

- Experience with precision electro-mechanical assemblies is essential. (ideally 3 years+)
- A solid background in both mechanical fitting and electrical assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering instructions, drawings and BOM`s.
- A methodical and logical approach to problem solving with a sense of ownership.
- Take pride in producing high quality work.
- Good attention to detail.
- Organised and able to prioritise.
- Team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Quality

- Drive an ethos of Quality Improvement, working closely with Production and other departmental staff, taking appropriate actions to reduce quality related issues
- Reporting & Communication
- Supporting the Service Administration team with the provision of equipment failure reports
- Report immediately on any issues affecting the on time delivery (OTD) of Repaired or Serviced products
- Continuous Improvement
- Working with the Workshop Supervisor and the Workshop team to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Service & Repair department
- Working with the Workshop Supervisor, reviewing product performance and helping identify areas of improvement

Health & Safety:

- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in the Stores areas, and where necessary, the implementation, monitoring and control of required processes and procedures
- Ensure the use of appropriate PPE at all times
- Promote health and safety issues within the Stores areas
- Report any concerns associated to Health & Safety or Maintenance issues
- Ensure that all H&SE policies and the company ISO guidelines are adhered to during service, manufacture and assembly of instruments.
